Here is something I haven't run across before even though Winchester built ~300,000 of them for the Russians.

A Winchester 1895 in 7.62x54mmR

The rifle is solid but has suffered from being scrubbed down with steel wool on all metal parts and the wood - while is very good condition - has been sanded and stained.
Both front and rear sites are missing (the front was soldered on) and will have to be replaced.

Also, what diameter bullet does this thing use? .308 or .312 and is brass easy to find?

After a little research it appears that Bubba worked on this particular rifle at one time or the other. The stripper-clip guides are missing as is the upper hand-guard. The fore-arm has been shortened and the bayonet mount removed.

Asking prices in the USA are all over the map with pristine examples (rifles built but never shipped due to the Bolshevik Revolution) on the Market for $10,000.00 + Rifles that have all their original parts and are in NRA "good" condition are listed from $2500.00 - $4000.00. "Tinkered-with" rifles like the one offered to me seem to go for between $200.00 for "parts guns" to about $500.00 for good serviceable "shooters".

The Russian guns also were built with a nominal .311" groove diameter.
