so after seeing how much slavex liked the xd, Tiggrot decided to try one and see if it would replace his shadow as well

i believe there will be a shadow for sale soon

I know there are some folks( Who are very knowledgable and whose opinions I respect) here who have a real hate on for the XD.I am not trying to start a pissing match, but I think if you try the XDM you will find a pistol that for me anyway balances better than the original XD.
XDM also has a Match grade bbl and a shorter trigger reset as well as the now common
interchanging back straps. It is one of the most easy and accurate guns to shoot, right up there with my 1911 and my Glock. With some initial FTF I found that the rivet blocking the mags to 10 rds was causing the mag spring to bind. Since correcting this problem I have over 5000 rds with out issue. This includes a couple of hard use tack matches in
heavy rain and high winds.

My love affair with XD's comes from their 100% failure rate at my S&D classes. Not one has made it through the night without mechanical issues.
Add in the stupid grip safety, which is not only redundant, but also ugly and a waste of time.

Slavex, what is the course of fire and SOP for your S&D course? As well as the scoring/ranking system. Also what are the most common issues that pop up. Again not starting anything I would like to give it a run and see A:how my XDM holds up. B:
my scores with diff pistols and finally where my skill set would fall in.

every week is different. some weeks we focus on mag changes, other weeks it's all about the front sight, then maybe trigger pull, or movement.
The XD's have universally failed to make it through the night without some sort of malf. typically failures to feed, or eject or extract. Sometimes the triggers just don't work. Guns get cleaned, lubed and brought back to the line, and again fail to run properly. I had one that ran all night until we did a FAST, then it FTEject twice.
It's also pretty strange that outside of Rob Leatham, no major shooter in the world uses one. Rob gets paid to. They just aren't very good guns in my opinion.

I forgot to mention that they break too. Trigger bits and not springs. Never did sort that one as the gun was sold as is to someone who said he could fix it.

yes, it is an inside joke, I don't like XD's or 1911's, but never say "No" to shooting someone else's gun when given the opportunity. Just because I don't like them, and have had bad experiences with them doesn't mean others shouldn't like them though (talking about XD specifically). If you want one, buy it and have fun with it.

My 0.02:

I shot XD once whille on a trip in US, it was XD in .40S&W, shot 200rds, no issues at all, it was very (I was surprized) accurate and I even considered getting one, or XDm.
But, it had nothing on Shadow in IPSC/USPSA Prod. Div. and L10/L/Standard has waaay better gun selection too.

Were those reloads that Tim was shooting? What powder? Seems to be quite smoky.
