Quick question - I am looking at getting myself an Anschutz 22LR. I figure that as I spend more time plinking with a .22LR than any other caliber that I may as well get a good one - a really good one (at least that I can afford).
So, I am currently considering the Anschutz MP R (Multipurpose repeater). Its a stunning piece of rifle, beavertail and all - but it weights in at 3.9kilo (or just over 8.5lbs).
I currently have a Savage LPV and an 1885 and both weigh in at 10lbs. Safe to say they don't go far from the car to where I am shooting - 10lbs.
Despite being 6'4", 240lbs, and in good shape, I need to be realistic about what I am dragging through the woods or holding up in an off-hand shot. It seems to me that 8.6lbs may be on the heavy side for anything other than bench rest shooting.
So, looking for your opinions on this. Pros / cons of a heavy rifle. Accuracy, I get it - I believe that is the standard rationale for the weight, but will it be at the expense of me not wanting to take it for a walk in the woods.
Thanks
