Made the trip to Nordic and came home with a new Annie 1710 Competition Heavy Bbl , G28 model. Has the heavy 18.5in bbl w threaded muzzle brake and sits in a nice Classic stock. Nice easy dime size test target group.
If you are even thinking of a 1710 Classic, now is the time
to call Brad at Nordic. Only one of these left.
I hope to get to the range within the week and do some testing.

I'm jealous!!!!
Don't think we will see that option down here in Aus but I'd be tempted to trade one of my 1710DHB Classics on this model with the shorter barrel and better trigger - Just guessing but I'd assume that will be a fine handling rifle.
I hope it turns out to be a great shooter for you & please let me know if it ejects correctly.
Allan.

I had been thinking on a 1710 Classic for a while. When I saw this model, I jumped on it. I cycled a mag of rounds thru it and it ejects well. Bullets get engraved in the chamber too, so expecting promising results. Will let you know how it performs on the range.

Checked out the website and viewed your rifle.
There was still one in stock.
Not a fan of the threaded barrel option but would definitely consider a Classic . . . Not in Stock . . . which was probably a good thing!
Now that you have treated us all we are eagerly awaiting the results . . . take your time but hurry up!
How much ammo did you order with the rifle?

I am not totally sure about the chamber notation. But I think it is a match chamber with a slight mod to allow bullet loading without any issues. I tried a mag full of rounds into the chamber w/o any issues. And there is bore engraving onto the bullet band. Looks promising. The test target is good...15.65mm.

Congrats on your new Annie. Looking forward to hear on the results of this one. It must be nice to go and pick the gun. All the Annies Ive purchased came in the mail, so no picking nicer grain or whatever happens to catch your eye. Nice to be able to see the test target as well.

Thanks, friend. Yes, fortunate to be within a few hrs driving time of Nordic. Choice was limited; only had two left. Now only one in stock. Happy with what I acquired. Good people to deal with at Nordic.
I scoped it, and could wait no longer for decent weather; waiting for winds to die down. But winds were 10km to 20km gusts. Not the best day to trial, but started the bbl break in. It shoots all SK lineup equally well. Diligently worked at 20 5shot bulls and averaged 0.66in groups, shooting at 50yds. But during sight in, I did have a few go over 1in. Considering the wind, that's acceptable, but I know it can do better...I hope, lol. And maybe to see if one brand of SK proves better. Hoping to go again within the week.
The action is smoothing out nicely. Feeds just fine, but had a few empty case ejection issues. The trigger is what you would expect from Anschutz; great. Ejecting an unfired cartridge has no issues. The chamber engraves the bullet bands, so it is match grade; satisfied with that. Closing the bolt on an empty chamber is easy and light. With a cartridge loading , you can feel the extra resistance; hence the optimized chamber spec. All good there.
Ordered new rings with a bit extra height to see if case ejection is resolved.

Update:
I ordered a set of high Talley rings to fit the Anschutz rail. This allowed me more flex ability in ring location. Better than before. I had the impression that ejected cases were hitting the scope turrets' 'boss' on the bottom of the scope. Just installed them, and boss moved out of the action opening. Tried a dozen times without any issues; including slow and fast movement of the bolt.

Looking forward to hearing what ammo you try and the average groups your achieving. Just require the correct weather conditions.
