Anybody else own one a these beauties? I have one and never fired it. It's so pretty and expensive I can't get myself to go take it out lol... And because of it I'm contemplating trading her off for a centre fire rifle. Anybody have experience shooting these fine rifles? Let me know your shooting results and what ammo you used :) also, mine is the 18" threaded version

I have an 1827f, which is the biathlon version but uses the same Fortner action. My only regret is not buying one a lot sooner and skipping all the other .22s I bought before this one. Don't know why you wouldn't shoot it. It is a fantastic action and very accurate, way more accurate than I am.

I've tried a variety of Eley and Lapua/SK ammo, all seem to shoot about the same. Again, the limiting factor is me.

I have the 17HMR version as well as an 1827F biathlon rifle. Both are absolutely beautiful to handle and operate, nevermind the amazing accuracy!

I'd love to get the 1727 in .22 cal, but the funds and lack of job right now won't allow for it.

I got the privilege of shooting one today. To put it simply: the experience was magical. I was shooting 1.5" groups on my Savage, and went down to 0.5" when I tried out my buddy's rifle.

I have the 1727F in both cartridges. Haven't shot my .22LR yet, but have had the .17 HMR out on several occasions.

My results for 5 or 6 consecutive 5-shot groups at 50 yards have been an average of .34" with the Hornady 17-gr. V-Max, and .33" with the 17-gr. CCI TNT (hollow-point). These were shot with a March 2.5-25X42 scope mounted.

At 100 yards, my average group size over seven 5-shot groups is .77" with the Hornady 17-gr. V-Max. For these groups, I mounted a Leupold Competition 45X scope.

These results are, as noted, for a number of consecutive groups shot, with none discarded.

Since almost all .17 HMR ammunition comes from one source (CCI, I think), there isn't the wide range of ammunition to try in order to find what shoots best in your gun.

I posted a question like this a long time ago, and I don't remember exactly how it was phrased..but someone replied saying something along the lines of; "What happens if your wife is too beautiful? Would you not have _ _ _ with her?" lol

I didn't like the reply, but it sort of made sense.

Guns for me are bought to be taken out and used, but I have ended-up (a time or two) with guns a little snazzier than my sensibilities. I'm more careful with my guns than anyone I know but still...I've found myself pretty paranoid about getting even a minor scuff/scrape on high-end piece of walnut. Guns like that have not stood the test of time for me, it becomes too big a distraction. SO...I get you dilemma.

I don't have one of those so I can't comment...but personally, I think I'd have a hard time letting an Anschutz like that go.

You keep talking about trading it in before you try it and I will take a walk over to the vault and find a nice 223 custom that shoots down in the .2's (Best was .134moa) to trade with you! ;) :D :D I had mine out on the weekend and it rode in the back of the SUV while 4x4ing down some crazy stuff after we had a chance to go target shooting. Just a FYI that they are never too pretty to take shooting! Use the factory hard case if your worried!

Darn rights I'd have _ with my wife even if she's too pretty lol.... Ya I get your point guys. I would have tried her out long ago if I wasn't worried about value dropping after having test fired it. It is a beautiful cover girl so to speak just standing there in my safe by her lonesome self waiting to be fondled and her inner most action parts worked and stroked lol..... Ya ice dragon man there is temptation for a custom 223 if it has an aftermarket 700 action like a stiller or surgeon or other aftermarket action lol...

I've been tempted to buy a standard Anschutz 1710 and drop it into one a those new mdt Ls22 aluminum chassis lol wonder if it would shoot as good as my 1727 hmmmmmm.....

By the way what would be a nice muzzle brake to put on the 1727 cuz mine is threaded as well. Just for looks I guess prob wouldn't help much groups wise but atlesst it would take that big recoil when launching 40 gr lead at 1200fps lol

Very interesting gun. I have always thought I would like to find a pull action biathalon gun and use it for gopher shooting. Would like to see a longer heavy barrel though. Good article on it here.

Lol I was also staring at those boxes of federal thinking it was hunting ammo. How does your 1727 group with federal game shok?

I was just trolling. That's my ammo, and me in the picture. But icedragon's rifle (with his ammo loaded). He didn't dare defile his rifle with my choice of ammo. :) :) :)

Mike112288 - Like I said you just need to get out and try it, that will cure your idea of trading it! Lol I have a Muzzle Brake on mine but it sure gets dirty fast even with the 40gr 1040fps stuff! That was to save the muzzle from a bump on the terrain when out in the wilds. The 1727F shoots more like the heavy barreled 54 action bench guns than a 1710 ;) Get some match ammo and try for yourself before you sell it!!!

Kinthelt - I would never let you soil my rifle with such cheap ammo! ;) :D That federal match stuff used was the bottom of the list ;) Lapua CenterX for the win!!

Ron AKA - you should check out this one... http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1481648-1927F-Walnut-22-lr

Dyna I'm about to go take her out any day I'm getting tempted lol. Wonder how she'd shoot with lower end ammo like cci standard velocity
