I have an Anschutz 1710ACC with a picatinny rail and scope. When new I was getting a lot of casings not ejecting properly. It is getting better the more it is broken in but still fails to eject sometimes. Is this normal? It seems to be the worst with Center X.

45CAT asks a good question. Sometimes the rail design and/or the scope location can interfere with empty cases clearing the loading area when ejecting, causing casings to fall back in.

Can you post a photo or send one to someone who can (if as a new member and or a low post count you cannot)?

I have a 1808MSR. It had the same issues. Cases were ejected off the bolt and bounced into the scope boss where the turrets are located. I subsequently used high rings and milled out the picatinny rail so it wouldn't cover up the feeding area, etc. Works pretty good now. Occasionally a case drops back onto the mag/loading port. At first I tried changing the ejectors, but there was no improvement. As the other reply mentioned, check out Rimfire Central. It has been addressed there also. Hope this helps. Nice Annie you have!

First of all don't use what doesn't work and second of all clean the chamber for fouling- just the chamber. Otherwise, are you tending to use less expensive bulk ammo? Anschutz tolerances are so precise that ordinary present day .22LR ammunition, which is made in an inexcusably sloppy fashion, will not eject most of the time. I found that out when my own Anschutz was new and I tried to break in the barrel with the less expensive stuff. Federal Champion rounds were the budget solution, the boxes designated 714 for short range and 510 for longer ones. But to get the best out of the rifle, you have to go RWS, SK or Eley, no question

Hey
I have the twin a 1712, what is happening is 3 things, "I have gone thru it'. First off if your rifle is new this is a precision rifle so everything is very tight '' chamber, action, etc'' so it takes a while to break in. Second your rail if it is just a straight rail with no cut out in it where the shell casing ejects then what is happening sometimes is the shell is hitting the underside of the rail and bouncing back into the action '' DIP rails have this area cut out for this reason''. Thirdly the outside extractor needs to have an area gently removed ''refer to Rimfire Central for the remedy. You will need a caliber and a fine file or sandpaper to do this , you will only be removing a few thou of material. You can always PM me for help.
Regards George
PS enjoy your Anschutz I have.

Thanks 65gks. It has definitely got better the more I use it. My rail does have a cut out in it. I found the article on Rimfire Central thanks to someone else referring me there. Not sure if I’m going to try that yet. I am really enjoying this Anschutz, it is amazing!

Yea you pay more for them ,but at least you do not have to start upgrading . What MOA is your rail and where did you get it. Since your rail is cut out at the ejection port the cases could be hitting the underside of the scope then
