Lets get straight to the point...

Anschutz mag release is CRAP !!!
Especially when you just loaded a couple mags of SK greasy ammunition ( even if you wipe your hands, they're still greasy ).

Decided to order an extended mag release from Nordic Marksman.
I was browsing thru the site and noticed that there is 3 different models.

1- The Anschutz extended (built from sheetmetal ) : https://www.nordicmarksman.com/44-Magazine-Retainer-Long.html

2- The Fortner/Anschutz V2 ( billet metal ) : https://www.nordicmarksman.com/Anschutz-Extended-Magazine-Release-V2.html

3- The Fortner/Anschutz extended ( billet metal ) : https://www.nordicmarksman.com/Anschutz-Extended-Magazine-Release-1416171017121727.html

Middle mag release is the crappy factory unit

All of them works perfectly and is a big upgrade over the factory unit.
They are pretty expensive ( if you add the taxes and shipping ) but they worth every penny.
The extended mag release will fits many 64,54 and Fortner actions using #1420 mags.

So after I tried all the different models, I finally went with the # 3.
Release the mag isn't a pain in the a... anymore !

If you want one, you know where to go ;)

Extended Mag Release

Annies are poor as well as the Cooper 57M.

The release is for the Biathlon rifles to facilitate
use with gloves on .

Anschutz North America sent me several of Version 1 and I have them on all my Anschutz sporters - Can't bring myself to fit one to my 57M Custom Classic though!

The 1761 mag release has it all over the 54 & 64 actions.

I really like that Version 3 unit - Thanks for posting the pics.

My 64 wears the Anschutz extended/sheetmetal one. Looks homely, but functions perfectly. As much as Anschutz charges for magazines, I haven't found them to be overly consistent. Some drop free, one of mine has to be pulled out, etc.

The # 3 would look nice on such a classy rifle ( your Cooper 57 ).

Anschutz are such well built rifles but the magazine design/operation is really not the best when you compare them as CZ’s and others makers.

My Cooper's each wear the longer version.
Sometimes the mag does not seat properly and requires a little push down on the top round and then works fine.
The short version has been received but has yet to be installed . . . after the next shoot might be appropriate.
