Ok, their website is almost incomprehensible. There are 2 17HMR models - one is the 1517, the other is the 1717. The 1717 is upmarket from the 1517, but what are the differences? Also, there are about 10 different stock options for the 15, but only 2 for the 17? What gives? Shouldn't the 17 have a bunch of stock options as well?????

Can someone here please give me a quick rundown of what the differences are? I really like the 1517 with the american beavertail stock (which they call the MP for multi purpose) but is the beavertail really multi purpose? I thought beavertail stocks were usually reserved for bench guns.

15 series is 64 series action (lighter action still very good)

17 is 54 series action (the heavier "target rifle" action)

as for the stocks i dunno

Phone Peter Krause (sp?) at hmm cant remember the name of his business right now, but he is the Canadian importer or talk to SakoAlberta on here I think he has been selling annies.

lord-h: Check out this link, it explains the differences between the two actions. http://www.shooterscatalogue.com/Color Catalogs/Ans Sport Catalog and Prices.pdf

I just got a 1730 Hornet. I won't lie I was pretty hyped up and excited to have an Anschutz model 54 action rifle but I was a bit disappointed to find that for a 2K+ rifle, the action wasn't bedded (pillar or glass) and there were no swivel/sling studs on mine. Current ones do have the studs but I am pretty sure they aren't bedded. The extraction on the 54 is a bit cheesy, my Ruger 77/17 will throw the brass away and clear, my hornet will sometimes dribble them back into the ejection port unless I really work the bolt. That being said the trigger is really good - I mean REALLY good, the bluing, finish, and wood are outstanding. I have only had one so my sample isn't large but it wasn't everything I hoped it would be.
