I am wondering what people's opinions are on the anschutz modle 1431 22 hornet? I am looking at purchasing one and wonder if they are rated as well as anschutz rimfire rifles. I already have an M6 scout in the 22 hornet and wouldn't mind a bolt gun in the same caliber. Would I be better to wait for a Bruno in 22 hornet or give the anschutz a try? (What's more desirable)

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Both are impressive guns, and which is "more desirable" is very much a matter of personal taste. I have had an Anschutz 1432 (I believe merely a different stock than the 1431) as well as 2 different Brno ZKM465 models (not simultaneously). I was very impressed with the light weight and handiness of the Brno's and the set-trigger was a joy...although that too is matter of taste. Having said that, the Anschutz was by far my personal favourite. Slightly more accurate, although all three guns were tack drivers. Non-set trigger, but nevertheless an outstanding trigger feel and action.

Both manufacturers make outstanding guns, but the Anschutz is the one I wish I still had.

I have an Anschutz 1433 (I think) mannlicher that I won't part with for a long time. When I bought it, I sold the zkw465 and never looked back.

Seen a few Brnos in the EE for sale by fishermen. In my opinion they are grossly overpriced.

I have owned three BRNO Hornets... none that could shoot... I now have a Ruger K-Hornet and a H&R Ultra K-Hornet... they both can shoot.

I haven't purchased the gun yet - turns out the seller can't find the magazine. I am going to call a couple distributors tomorrow.
Anyone have any other ideas where to get a magazine?

I've had a 1430-1434 Anshutz in Hornet since 1975. Great shooter and real pretty with the scnabel forend, roll over cheek piece , pistol grip swell in a good grade walnt stock. Just a word on reloading, the mag restricts the use of bullets to semi pointed or round nose, long spire points will have to be seated so deep that the case projects beyond the beginning of the ogive. Also the action is a rear locking single lug so don't load it too hot or case life will suffer, head separation, anyone that has loaded for a Lee Enfield knows the rules for loading for such a beast as far as die adjustment.

I had a BRNO Fox .22 Hornet that was one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned. A great DST. Uncanny the way it would pop them all into one hole at 100 yards with just a 4X scope. But it was a later 70's rifle and the fit and finish were not up to the quality of the earlier Brno rifles. I did have three clip magazines for it though. I sold it and it is one of the few extremely accurate rifles that I have sold that I don't miss all that much, just because of its appearance.

When the Olympic shooting sports still had some b@lls, they had one centrefire rifle match called the running boar competition. The only offical sport that allowed a rifle scope too.
This sport was dominated by two catridges the 22 Hornet and the 222 Remington.
Most often the Hornet came in a bolt action Anschutz launcher.

Thanks everyone - I picked the gun up tonight but old owner couldn't find the magazine. If anyone has any leads or a spare mag they can part with please let me know.

Here's a couple pics

I have both a 22 H Walther Running Boar and 22 Anschutz R--B--.And both are outstanding shooters --another 22H is the Anschutz 54 action which has inscribed on the bbl--"Use factory ammunition only".My other Walther 22H has DST.---Bent Barrel

Thanks for the help and suggestions,

I have purchased a Magazine but wouldn't mind another one if anyone hears of any others. They are not a cheap mag. :)

Cheers,
Justin
