I'm aware that there is some conglomeration between the efforts of the two companies and as such there are many similarities between the two rifles.

However is anyone with some experience with the two rifles aware of any notable differences between the two... barrel, trigger, magazine?

Is one considered more desirable or better than the other? Why?

Anschutz version: upgraded barrel and adjustable trigger. Precise version has different non adjustable stock. Some versions come with threading or muzzle brakes. Also supposedly anschutz rifles are assembled in Germany but this is debatable. Check your rifle thoroughly for fit and finish.

Operating mechanisms are exactly the same. Difficult to clean effectively. Overly complicated bolt that is difficult to take down. Anschutz rifles have all the potential
Flaws that issc rifles have. Biggest problem is light strikes which can usually be remedied by cutting the firing pin spring.

the Annies also have a tighter grouping out of the box.

these are 10 round groups at 55 meters.

So the new Anschutz versions still having problems with light strikes?

Mine did. And then it had a cracked bolt carrier. They are operationally the same as the ISSC. Anyone who tells you they are more reliable or 'upgraded' (in terms of the operating mechanism) is straight out lying to you. They need to be kept clean to run properly long term.

As for accuracy, JR Hartman is correct. There is no comparison between the pencil barrel of the ISSC MK 22 and the forged barrel of the Anschutz. That being said, most people report the ISSC MK 22's accuracy as acceptable.

There are three fixes that I am aware of.

One was the washer fix for the trigger which many reported did not work.

The second fix was the spring placed at the back of the bolt/bolt carrier in order to provide the proper force to hold the bolt face to the barrel face. This second mod is known as 'gen 2' and all the Anschutz rifles come with it installed. However, in several cases (my rifle included) even this mod is not enough to alleviate the light strike problem.

The third option is to disassemble your bolt/bolt carrier and cut 3 to 4 coils off your firing pin spring. This seems to be the most effective way of solving light strikes.

The shop I was dealing with did the firing pin spring mod and this seemed to allow my gun to function with all high velocity 22 ammo I could find... but then the bolt casing cracked. Once I got this repaired, my rifle is once again selective about what ammo it will cycle but at least seems to fire cci and most federal bulk ammo reliably.

Most of the troubleshooting on these rifles was done by the end user themselves on the gen 1 ISSC Mk 22 rifles. You can read 100 plus pages of trials and tribulations involved in 'solving' these problems on the fnforums > other black rifles > issc mk 22 thread.

I've never been able to shoot these types of groups yet. But my rifle wears Diopter sights and not an optic. I tried to get a decent 50 meter group but so far no luck. I would bet you'd need to get some high quality ammunition and a decent optic to realize these groups.

If you look at http://w ww.rrdvegas.com/anschutz-msr-rx-22.html you'll notice this reviewers 25 yard 10 shot groups.

Also... several people on this forum post report excellent groups... as well as frustration with getting the rifle to run..... http://w ww.rimfireshooting.com/index.php?/topic/10108-my-new-anschutz-msr-rx22/

If I ever get an optic on my rifle then I'll invest in some premium ammo and see if I can't duplicate Anschutz's results. Does anyone else have pictures of their groups?

Anyone aware if there are there any different length replacement barrels available?

If you go to the above site you can view the breakdown of the rifle by part. Perhaps North Sylva would be able to order a different replacement barrel for your gun?
