Just wondering if anyone out there could give me some insight. I am kicking tires and thinking about a Model 64 MRP. I am being told to step up to a model 54. Thoughts on this? I have a price range in mind and the 64 looks as it will fill the gap. I really like the looks of it and the 10 oz trigger.

Depends on what the use will be, a 64 match action in a sporter will shoot as well as anyone can. If into match shooting a heavy tgt gun with a 54 action would be better I guess. I have the 64 action in a model 1416 , and it bug holes @ 50 meters with the costly by the brick Walmart ammo.

Calvin just buy the cheaper one (less expensive for those politically correct) and give Peter a call at 416 242 4867 and he will sell you a gun. good price and knows his stuff. Just bought 3 cases of eley eps for a new swindlehurst with a benchmark reverse twist 1 in 16.
BUT I wouold buy a 64 I have owned 3 exemplars (pistols) just sold 1 today (pending) so I know what the 64 actions can do. I sold a 54.18 last year through your friends at brandon. Wish I would have kept it now;. got 1g for it and it had less than 200 rounds through it. A guy called me last week and offered 1800 but I sold it for a song earlier.
good rifles are hard to get second hand. I would think about the 64 with the stock like a 54.18 the old model without the thumbhole. A us firm had BR50 stocks to fit the 2013 or 54 action but they would not return my email or call once they found out i was from canada.
buy it and shoot the heck out of it with either lapua super club (price is going up shortly) or eley standard, try some of each. windflags and read the wind.
I am looking for a 54.18 or a 2013 and still trying to build a annie BR gun. should have kept the 54.18 new they are $2150 or more. I might just buy the 64 and play thinking of a cz american and getting a stith stock.
so many choices and so little time. for the $$$$$ what the heck the others are way more costly and you can lose a little more if you want cash in a hurry.

It really depends how much you are willing to spend, and how seriously you are into it. If you are the type of guy who likes to get remarkable accuracy, you go forthe 54, but if you just go to the range once and a while, and are not to seriosly into shooting go for the 64.
The 54 has a superior trigger, bolt, action, ect.
Jeff: Whats the theory behind the reverse taper? Heard good things about them... Hope you like the new gun

I am just kicking some tires right now. I plan on getting rid of my Browning Gold 3" 12ga. It is not getting a lot of use and is in immaculate condition.
I have really been toying with getting a true BR rimfire built but I still do not have the Bat built yet. Hopefully the action will be ready in the next few weeks. I will contact Bruce B4 we go to Florida for holidys.
Thoughts are that I could get into the Anschutz for less money and they shoot pretty darn good.

May also want to look at the Walther single shot, its a winner.

the don stith stock is on BR central advertisers. the reverse taper was what bob collins suggested (the guy who imports eley into usa) amazing what happens if you are from canada and calling internaitonally for 15 seconds of advice. the gunsmith in washington also knew of benchmark. I guess it works like the annie to control vibrations who the heck knows, just open your wallet and hope for the best.

I am trying to shoot up a storm in the next 3 years cuse everybody works until the are 655 and then they die, big deal, get some living in and take care of some RRSPs and enjoy life.
