Not sure how many know about this but thought I would share.
Anschutz no longer makes the model 64 action, which did not having the same status as the 54 action but was still a great Rimfire. It also came as a left hand repeater, as wells as many single shot configurations, and since the Model 54 NEVER came as a LH repeater, the 64 repeater was the best repeater a LH shooter could get, unless you wanted to pony up +4.200 for the straight pull 1727 repeater or convert a LH Biathlon rifle to a sporter stock.
The new 1761 comes in repeater models in LH, as well as RH, and is a great action. However, it is also nearly double what the old 64 sold for and not a whole lot less than a 54, especially if you replace the Polymer bottom metal with an Aluminum one at a cost of nearly $300. I have always loved Anschutz rifles but at the current prices, it is putting brands like Vudoo into legitimate competition for buyers.
I am in the process of looking for a nice used Anschutz for my young nephew, even posted a thread in the WTB section, so have been looking around a bit and that is what put me onto the demise of the 64 action. Would be interested to hear experiences from anyone who has more than a few rounds through a new 1761.

A lot of the early 1727s came with great figured wood
