I got this Anschutz single shot .22 I was about to list it on the EE but before I did that I just test fired it to make sure it works. Although it fires and hits where I'm aiming, this is what happens.

Here is the breech.

Is this normal for this model of gun? I notice it has no extractor and when I opened the gun up, the shell just fell out when I turned the gun upright. It looks as if they designed it to do this especially since they have a side cut to allow gasses to escape. I just need a for sure answer this is normal and the way its designed before I list this as a functioning gun on the EE. Id look into it myself but there is no model number or stamping any where on the gun and when you try to search, "Single shot Anschutz" You get several different guns. My gun book also doesn't list a model with the same description of the gun.

This is the gun in question.

Ahhh I see. Thanks. I noticed the cut out at the bottom of the receiver and thought maybe it was missing something or maybe this was they way its supposed to be. Many thanks. It will be going on the EE as a parts rifle.

Perhaps you have an Anschutz 6mm Flobert garden gun. It didn't shoot .22LR rounds.
What does the Anschutz logo on the rifle look like? Is there a date on the rifle? It may be stamped on the barrel near the receiver.

No, he's missing the extractor that would otherwise support the lower half of the case.

Appears to be missing the ejector as well. Out of curiosity, what makes the extractor pop rearward to extract the shell? Is there a spring in there?

The extractor forms the bottom half of the chamber and it goes under the bolt. When pulling the bolt back it extracts the cartridge. I guess without it the bottom half of the case is not supported = kaboom. I believe your rifle was made in mid to late 1950's. A little later they started calling it Model 1361. Before that it was just known as a boys rifle or garden gun. My wife has one and loves it. Hers is very accurate.

you could try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton, and if they had one, run out and buy a lotto ticket.
Might be easier to make one if you have machinest friend.
it is easier to find the rifle than the parts.
That is really neat how clean that case is blown out.

If you where planning to sell it may be cheaper to just sell it as parts.

Bought an identical rifle from CTC in Sept 1962.
