... This is an unknown to me . I have not attempted to fire with a capo. The wheel rotates but is very tight . The owner suggested it was a cigar cutter but i can find no cutter on the unit . Any ideas ? etc No markings other than numbers on wheel and s/n 3070 . cheers

it is formally known as an eprovet and all of the photos I have seen have been for testing the strength of powder. I don't quite follow how the force of the cap rotates the wheel, but I am sure it does

Maybe with more pictures we could figure out how the barrel is removed for loading powder.

...This is called an Eprouvette and was designed for testing black powder . small increments of powder were poured into the opening -see pic and cap inserted /fired . It was recommended to use the same batch or even tin of caps as many were quite different in results. Thanks to all who contributed to this knowledge.
