antique pre 1898 colt d/a swing out revolver?

Got this serial number information from Proofhouse - (www.proofhouse.com) - don't have another source to verify the serial number data -

Colt made the 1889 (Navy) - All were made prior to 1894 (up to serial number 31,000).

Colt's New Army - 1892, 1894,1895, 1896 model (New army) - anything with a serial number of less than 91,199 was made before 1898.

I have a couple of the New Army models - they don't lock up very well (am going to make a project gun or two - am not sure whether they would be very good shooters given the lock up).

Bob Best wrote a book about these old D.A. colts and I have one on order - will see if the serial number data matches www.proofhouse.com

All pre 1898 Colt swing out cylinder rvolvers made in 38 Long Colt or 32 Colt would not be antiques under the law because they are in listed calibres.

Ive had a couple 1889 swing out cylinder colts they were 41 cailber and perscribed Antiques.
the model 1892 ones were made past 1898 the cut off for 1898 from CFC i think was around 91000.

Remember our cut off is a year sooner than the Americans to the south. Not sure why they made our cut off a year sooner any ideas on this!

If they dont lock up to good changeing the cylinder bushings helps + sometimes the cranes get bent from people fliping them open hard playing silly buggers.
Bent cranes can be bent back. also the cylinder catch thing wears to!
I had one that locked up tight like new but i sold it cause i dont like 41 caliber.
