Can anyone identify the make and model of this gun? Some information provided by the owner.

I have in my possession (passed down from a great uncle) a single shot revolver.
It is almost identical to the gun you show in your Cowboy section of your website.
(I guess all revolvers look alike)
Would it be possible for somebody to email me the type of this gun.
The one I have has a Patent # 11446S but these are the only identifying marks on the gun.
Thanks ever so much for your help!
Bernadette

The patent # may be I14468 - but didn't turn
up anything on search in U.S. It is engraved at least 4 times - on stock,
barrel and chamber. (knowing nothing about guns, don't know if these are
proper terms - but I am sure you get the picture!). My mother recalls my
father telling her there was a stagecoach robbery engraved on the chamber.
The gun needs a good cleaning but I can barely make out an outline of what
appears to be a coach wheel.

I am not an expert on old guns but my guess is that it is an 1851 Colt.
With the shorter barrel I would also guess .36 caliber.

Just an opinion.

Sorry, but incorrect;

This is a Colt "Pocket" commonly known as a Model 1849.

It is chambered in .31 cal.

Colt did make a similar 5 shot revolver in .36 on the same frame, but it has a rebated cylinder ala 1860 Army. It was known as the "Pocket Pistol of Navy Caliber"
