no ive noticed some people have letters issued from the rcmp and others are antique letters from a gun dealer..
now ive came across antique guns with american dealers details on antique status letters..
i asked the folk who issue the antique letters with the rcmp and they said they are fine with these letters as long as the customs are fine with them,
so im more wondering on others experience with this issue. as the rcmp take a very very long time to issue an antique status letter..
how are the customs with these antique letters that are issue by gun dealers??
does this cause a problem or are they quite fine with the document.

As long as that letter shows its a perscribed antique up here by date of being made and caliber then you should be oK but keep in mind alot of USA letters just say made before 1899 when up here the guns must be made before 1898 so that can cause issiues.
were a year diffrent than the Americans because past Canadian goverments liked to copy England rather than our more conservative neigbours to the south.

i see , thanks , yes it is a beast waiting for the antique status letters with the rcmp.. takes weeks.
.. if its an older arm with no serial , like some of the belgian or english guns, a description of the gun and proofmarks would be enough i wonder?..

Best to call them.( info provided in stickys ) They will ask you for your email and gun info to get started then send you email for the same. It will take from a week to two weeks. In the email again they will ask you for your information whether you want electronic or paper letter, description of the gun, markings and may ask you to send the photos in some cases. You will either get it in the mail or Email in PDF form which you can print depending what you asked.
Send this letter to seller in US and you are set to go. They did not even open my package. But in case they did RCMP letter is good insurance that it will not take long on the border.
To let you know i just did this last week,.
