Antler deformity- almost a 3 horned buck

Doing up a euro mount on my sons whitetail today and found this.

Thought it was kind of cool, first time I’ve run into this myself.

that's looks interesting. I wonder if it is a result of a previous injury or if it was something it was born with. I remember reading an article in an outdoor publication many years ago about bucks with "deformed" antlers. Most of those were reported to be from injuries to the antlers when they were just starting to grow in late spring and stiil soft.
 
Not just another trophy , but a trophy with a story to tell...
There was a White Tail pic out of Alberta few years back with a horn growing from midway down the face towards through the nasal cavity..
It must have been a painful experience for that deer.

I have took a couple really funky sets of antlers, and the general consensus, has been the the deer that grew them, had spinal injuries at some point.

Another, I am pretty sure ran into the side of a truck at some point! (inch or less high, broken off antlers).
 
First buck I ever shot had that, in my case on the skull you could see where bone had healed so it was obviously injured
