Hi Folks!

Finally found the time to cut together my 2017 shotgun deer hunting video:

Thanks for watching!

Cheers, and hope you all have a prosperous and happy 2018!

Excellent video, and im sure some terrific eats.

One question: In the last kill shot, there looks to be a building in the line of fire behind the deer. Can you provide some clarification on why the shot you took was safe?

Im not trying to be a jerk about it, I would just like your thoughts. I presume its either an illusion and its not really in the line of fire, and probably also well beyond shotgun range. But in the east in the relatively short distances and hilly terrain I hunt, I would be extremely wary of shooting from that perceived location.

its well out of range.........and it almost looks like a stack of big square bales....

The property where this occurred is a super-old working cattle ranch with a tonne of derelict, abandoned, and partially collapsed buildings. There are also numerous animal shelters of various vintage, this is one and it's current use is for hay storage. The closest edge of the structure is about 175 yards from where I took my shot and without any current knowledge of the property I agree that it would be risky/unsafe...more so were I using slugs. But consider that I've walked around and sat against that particular shelter, as recent as the evening before, and that I know with certainty I am the sole person hunting the property...under these circumstances I feel the shot was safe.

Cheers,

Never been a fan of buckshot..... too many use it thinking it eminates a cone of death from their shotgun and precise aiming and patterning in advance aren’t necessary....

Great video and explanation of how it should be used.....

I passed up so many deer this year because I was unsure of my limitations that I think I'm going to have to go slug hunting next year just to relieve some of the resulting anxiety.

Perfect explanation. Thank you :)

i was looking forward to your video and was not disappointed . as always an excellent job of explaining the limitations of the gun and ammo.you say you will be slug hunting next season. will you be using the alligator . happy new year .

I love brobee's work, but after seeing the meat damage of buck shot, I would always choose a slug instead for my own hunting, unless it was very heavy brush.

Nice video as always Brobee, you make getting in range and finding deer look effortless! Cool to see the two very different reactions of the deer to taking a load of buckshot.

Hunted similar territory on a quarter this year and saw nothing but sign!
