I've been searching but I can't find any info on Danzig made in 1948. I know you experts here know something.

"Danzig" didn't exist in 1948, it had been returned to the Polish state as the city of Gdansk. The Prussian arsenal that manufactured small arms and marked them Danzig had not made guns since WW1, the factory and its tooling were inherited by the Polish government and used to jump start production at Radom, in Warsaw and Lwow. If your rifle is marked 1948 and Danzig, I suspect some good photos will be the only way to give you more info.

Pictures are a plus.

Danzig ceased operations in 1919 where they finished off making some quality post WW1 sporting rifles based on the 98AZ action. After that, all equipment was transferred to Radom in Poland where they started to produce the Kbk 98 or the Polish clone of the 98AZ.

you can see some one had a side scope mount on it.

It is 1918. Line on number 1 that makes it appear like number 4 looks like tool mark to set claw mount for soldering it on. Is there still some silver solder left in Danzig letters? Rifle may had claw mount and side mount installed on it over time

Definitely a former 1918 dated Danzig. Is the serial number still intact on the left receiver side ? I am curious what it is.
