Not too owie, for a 375 Caliber stainless rifle, considering that most 375 H&H rifles are going for about $1500 or much more these days, blue or stainless. :)

I don't consider $1139 very much to spend on a quality rifle with the features I wanted. I actually think it's a bargain! This Ruger is very similar to a rifle that I woudl have had built for myself, but at about 50% of the price:runaway:

And I get it NOW, too!:shotgun:

If it was $1500 I'd look at just getting one built, though...

Is there a African model there too?:)
How much for that one?:dancingbanana:

Wholesale Sports lists the African at $1000 on thier website. If theyhave one, I dont' know.:onCrack:

And how long before Clark has a new toy to get ready for the scabbard this fall?

Okay, I'm done with the questions........:p

Mom, can I have a loan?

It shoudl be here tomorrow, brass and dies next week, hopefully!

WSS also lists the Alsakan

M77 HAWKEYE DANGEROUS GAME - ALASKAN · Matte Stainless Steel
Caliber: .375 Ruger • Model - HM77RSPHHM
Mfr. # 7179 · 241737

Counting the sleeps, eh!:p NICE!

I believe I read they improved the trigger somewhat too so that will save you an extra brown dollar as well do the included rings.

Speaking of which , what optic will adorn your new prize?

One of the nice perks of Ruger rifles is that they include rings with thier excellent integral mounting system. Good rings and bases often run $100 or more.

I have a 1.5-5 Vari X III that used ot be on a 375 H&H I owned, and that was going to go on this rifle, but I'm debating the merits of a 2-7 VXII or 2.5-8x36, of which I have 3 others...

Besides, the 1.5-5 looks prety good on my 30-30.:p

I don't get to shoot near as much as I would like to, but with each time I do get out I always enjoy the 2.5-8 more than any other scope I have used.
I've gone through the way-too-much-scopeitis 6-18 VXII for a hunting scope to the other extreme of an M8 6x. Sprinkled in the middle are a few 3-9's. They all got the job done but the ones you have mentioned just seem to be the right ones for the job.

Looking forward to the feedback on your toy.

I at first had a 1.5X5 Loopy on my 375 African, but I changed it to a 2.5X8 for several reasons. The 1.5X5 eye piece is longer than that on the 2.5X8, and the 1.5X5 was getting a bit too close to my eye; it couldn't be mounted any further forward than I had it. The 2.5X8 gave me just a small extra margin I needed. I also like the extra bit of magnification for hunting in our more open country, where longer shots and spotting are often necessary.

I still love the Leupold 1.5X5, but not on the 375 Ruger. I WANT...I NEED a 375 Alaskan...:runaway:
