Are the ex sniper m91/30's avaialble on the market any better than the other re-arsenaled stuff out on the market right now?

I would kind of like the idea of shooting an ex-sniper but I'm more of a practical person in this regard and would prefer an accurate shooter plain jane MN over a shot out ex-sniper.

depends on the bore condition, how well it was restocked, etc.

In general, however, unless you want it to restore to a sniper or as a curio, I would think it's no different than any other 91/30.

I had an ex-sniper that I re-sniperfied.

In comparison to my other Mosin Nagants, it was a bit better of a rifle, but it was also in mint condition.

It shot a bit better, but about the only major difference that I noticed was that the trigger was a lot smoother, and had more defined stages.

Make no mistake though, there was still a large amount of creep before let off, but it was definitely better than any other Mosin Nagant I've ever fired. :p

Then you need to fire some Finns! :)

Actualy, it's doubtful an ex-sniper still has the original internals, so any nice trigger pull is purely by chance. All parts were stripped, refurbed, and then reandomly re-assembled into rifles when these were decomissioned as snipers.

That being said, I consider it completely legit to restore an ex-sniper - IF you do it properly, don;t bugger it up when removing hte hole plugs, and use as many original parts as posible - including the scope and matching bolt body (reworked for a bent handle).

Ah, that's an interesting bit of info and it pretty much makes up my decision for me :)

So I guess I'll be looking for a refurb and keep my fingers crossed that it will have a tight bore.

Thanks for the input guys!
