Looking to get together with someone for a weekend of hunting, already posted in the "Mentor" thread.

I'm located in Calgary, but willing to travel as far as Hinton/Edmonton/Llyodminster/Med-Hat/Lethbridge areas.

Doesn't matter if you're a 1st-time hunter or an experienced bushman, I'm open to all offers.

About me, I have intermediate-experience in the bush, First-Aid Standard, all neccessary Lic's, and most personal day-trip gear.

I do not have - sleeping-bag/tent/stove/truck/quad or anything larger than an axe. I can get the camping items, just no truck or quad.

Hoping to get in at the tail-end of the season, in any WMU within (or around) that "area" I specified. Depending on when the particular season(s) end.

I'm not against an overnite trip either, I just need notice to get a slp-bag and whatever else I/we need...

As for WHAT I'd like to hunt... (prefer)- deer/elk/predators, (also)- moose/bear

But I don't really care at this point, I want the experience and comradery that comes when hunting with friends.

No-one I know hunts, they're all "city-slicker" types that prefer not getting their hands dirty.

PM me if you're really interested, but reply here as well with any thoughts/comments.

* waiting to get my 44mag Rossi back, may buy a .270 or .308 bolt-gun sooner than I thought. (Savage 11 Lt-Wt Hunter)

Thx

Cool thread, I like the Idea of trying to reach out to fellow hunters for that Comradery!

Heres a story for ya,

A fellow my age was in similar boots an wanted to get out hunting deer an being from the city area he had no friends who hunted, He post on facebook pages an on hunting forums like you have aswell as hanging out in the chat rooms of hunting forums searchin for a hunter mate....
He was unexperienced to the bush an to Deer hunting, having only seen 2 deer previously, but just loved it.... Anyway he got the point where he nagged me to meet up an go hunting for the weekend, as we chatted on the chat rooms for about 4 months previous...

Its risky business, let me be honest, You know very little about someone an can only really go off what he has told you/face value... But Im a pretty straight up bloke an thought to myself, **** it ill give it a shot, if hes a wanker i'll leave right then an there...

Turns out that trip was the first of many, an i put him onto hes first, second an third deer, we arnt "best mates", were hardly mates but he lives in the city an does what he has to do for him an hes young family so doing the odd trip each winter is a pleasure sharing a camp fire.... even if he hardly mentions it, i know hes over the moon getting amongst it an spending time in the bush.

These days it is hard to believe anything that is said on facebook, most people are so fake but if you go in with an open mind, or feel the hunter/person is on a similar wave length as you, it could be a comradery for a life time of hunting...

Good luck an i hope your a genuine fella, with good ethics an respect in many cases.... Enjoy ya trip
You'l never know if you never go but it is a risk you have to look at both scenerios incase things arnt bells an whistles..

Dude... Move to Alberta please.

Or adopt me as an illegitemate-child ?

(option 2 might be tough, I think I'm older than you)

It's guys like you I'm looking for.

Thank you very much, for the story & vote of confidence.
