Any Better Value Than Savage?

This fall I will be buying myself a new bolt action .22 and have pretty much settled on a Savage Mk.II BTVS. I want it for range use (precision rimfire shooting out to 200yds or so) and for gopher blasting. It will get a quality scope and I expect excellent accuracy from it. Are there any other brands I should be looking at in the same price range that equal the Savage performance and value?

Thanks,
Mark

Fellow at range has a new savage its just a ordinary shooting gun with cheap ammo but it sure turned on with Eley 10x.
But not any better than a CZ

There is nothing in the same price range to match the performance of MkII series. I would buy BTVS model if I didn't have FV already

The Remington model 5 is a 22 bolt gun that has been discontinued, and is being sold off quite cheaply compared to how much they were when they were first introduced. I have this rifle in 22 mag and mine is a great shooting rifle. I'd exspect the 22's to be just as fine. FS

I'm very happy with the quality of my BTVSS. It's nicely finished, no tool marks, everything works smoothly. The magazine was defective but Savage replaced that with no problem. The gun shows a lot of promise in the accuracy department. I'm still experimenting with ammunition, but I shot this group of 10 last week at 100 yds with Lapua Standard +.
