Any Breeders with Started/Finished dogs in Canada?

Was lonely out in the marsh this year so am thinking about purchasing a companion for next years (2015) waterfowl season. I don't have the time (or skills) to purchase a new pup this winter/spring and have him trained up for next year so am looking for some info on breeders or other sources in Canada that tend to have started/finished or trial washouts for sale, retrievers (golden or labradour) in particular. There are lots down in the states obviously but can't seem to find anything in Canada. I know it's a long ways off but would like to start doing some research on the breeders and pedigrees now so when the time comes I'm ready. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Go with a lab...

Or a combo breed if you are also an upland hunter... tough to get a really good golden...

That would be a good first step and the breeders would likely be able to tell you who to contact for training

Go to the bank... get a dozen nice crisp $50 bills... look up all the field trial events within a couple hours drive and show up with the cash... During the event, spread the word that you are looking for a started hunting companion... after the event, one of the frustrated participants will approach you and hand you a lead with a very fine hunting dog on the end of it and he/she will walk away with your fifties... if he/she looks back, make a run for it!

Training a dog isn't hard, all you need is treats and give 1 to them when they do the right thing. And time isn't a huge issue either as you'll be training him while you are hunting not before or after

It will also be ALOT cheaper

Glen Selwyn is the guys name who runs it - and he has some nice labs and Goldens and sells the odd started dog.

A good finished dog is worth good money, if you find them under $2000 then I would question it, sometimes an old age dog will go cheaper.

Buy yourself a pup. I wouldn't sell my finished dogs for 10k
