Any Browning BSS owners out there???

If you have the chokes opened slightly, you will be fine shooting steel... I just wouldn't shoot it from the full choke barrel... you might get away with the first box, but eventually it could be costly... and on the other hand, the first shot could be costly.

Definitely going to stay away from steel. Don't plan on opening the barrels at this time. Will make it work in its original condition for now. It's in such great condition Im afraid to do anything to it haha. I also bought it off one of the eldrly gentlemen I deer hunt with so it has some sentimental value for me too owning one of his shotguns.

I paid around $800 for the 12 G box lock version and since inflation was officially running at over 12% for quite a few years afterwards, you have to adjust that accordingly. So what are they going for now?

$1500 for excellent condition PG 12, $1700 for PG 20, $2000 for Sporter 12 and $2200 for Sporter 20 (ish).

I bought one new from Le Baron on Yonge Street back in 1986 for just under $1000 all in after taxes.

They did have a gorgeous sidelock model in the display case but it was $2800 before tax ...... out of reach for me at that time.
