I have a Browning Maxus Hunter, and just picked up a Maxus Sporting Clays. I'm surprised to see there are some differences other than the barrel length and receiver artwork.
The Sporting Clays that I bought does not have the magazine cutoff. I thought all Maxus models had this. I can't find any references to models without it.
Also, I can't seem to find any reference to the Sporting Clays version, only a Maxus Golden Sporting Clays. This one does not have the gold highlights in the engraving, only the gold trigger like all Maxus models.
Another curiosity, my Hunter model has Maxus engraved on the receiver (bottom gun in pictures). The Sporting Clays has only that engraved within the artwork, no Maxus anywhere (top gun in pics).
I realize there are changes from year to year, but does anyone know anything more about the differences in these two. The two guns are only 2617 digits apart in serial numbers, if that has any bearing. The Hunter having the lower (assume older) number.
Sorry for the crappy phone pics.
