Any Canadian options for a 1/7" stainless 7mm blank?

Checked Gaillard, he can't do a 1/7" 7mm, anyone have any ideas? I'd like to support a Canadian barrel maker.

Why 1/7", are you designing a new 200gr 7mm pencil? 1/8 or even 1/9 will handle 180 bergers. 1/7 at 3000 fps will likely start bullet failures. I blew up 162 Amax's at 3000 with a 1/8. Puff looks neat at 100 yds, but completely ineffective on the target.

I'm building a 7mm WSSM for 162's, only 1/7, maybe 1/8 but I like to be on the safe side, will stabilize the VLD's with the velocities the WSSM case provides.

I'll give Ron Smith a call, thanks folks!

Ardent, with the 7WSSM I assume you are throating long. If so, you have a 7-08 AI case capacity (maybe 7X57) which means ANY conventional 9 or 9.5 twist will work for the Amax 162gr.

Now if going 180 or heavier, then go for the faster twist but I don't think that case is going to do much for you.

Silhouette shooters have been using the 7BR and 162gr bullets in conventional twists too.

Where are you getting the reamer from?

No kidding... I'm surprised, and thank you very much for the info Jerry, saved me some trouble :) My reamer was made by Pacific Tool and Gauge, good folks :)

If you have your heart set on a 1/7 twist it is very easy to get Lilja barrels into Canada. Darcy Bowyer in Maple Creek, SK is a Canadian dealer and he has done all the paperwork. All you do is call him up telling him what you want. He phones Lilja and places the order with Virginia. When the barrel is done Lilja ships the barrel to Darcy and Darcy ships to you. Darcy can be reached at 1-306-662-3267. Tell him Troy says hi.

With a 162gr .284 A-Max @3000fps needs a 1:8.9 twist get you a Stability Factor of 1.3 . Since stability starts at a SF of 1.00, and 1.3 is considered fully stable, a 1:9 twist should be just dandy.

I have a dandy little spreadsheet for doing the math!
