Ya know, the more I think about it the more I become convinced that this little Tavor would make a great little canoe gun. I ran into an older gent 100 years ago that actually had a 10mm auto pistol with a lazer/light on it that he took on trips into the back country as protection against bears when nature called in the middle of the night. I would probably go the same way were it not for the small matter of legalities. The game wardens might forgive an elderly outdoorsman enjoying his last few camp trips on this earth...but I doubt they would extend the same courtesy to me - hence the idea of the Tavor going into the same role. To make the concept viable I need to know also if there are any good quality waterproof duffels available that the gun will fit into.

Fellas, I know nothing about combo lazers and lights. I do know I want one that turns off and on with a switch...I don't want one that is actuated by pressure pads.
Also, are you fellas aware of any suppliers that sell the 5 round stubby AR mags? I have the ten rounders but I would really appreciate the 5's for legal purposes on camp trips.

Yeah, I know the .223 (and pistols) are not the best bear medicine but keep in mind I am not out to hunt them; or shoot them - the gun is along to PREVENT that! I don't fear bears but I do respect them and my experience is that they always run at the sight of me...and those that wouldn't probably would at the sound of a gunshot going over their heads. It's value is more of a noise maker in such a situation.

The topic makes for some interesting thought as I wait for the ice to come off the water and the summer camping trips of the spring and summer.
