The range will be the same as any other bow, around 30 yards, give or take given ability and how ideal the situation is but don't stray too far beyond that. I use a Crisbow at the moment, accurate and very cheap, I bought it used when I was 15. I used to group 3 bolts into an apple at 30 yards with an apature sight. You have to remember to practise though, these may feel like guns but they are not, the difference in point of impact from 15-30 yards is pretty great, meaning the kill zone of a buck. Excalibur makes a great bow, my father has an older one, Wolverine, they are accurate and reliable. As for weight, speed does not kill but placement and how sharp the broadheads are is a bigger deal. If you are looking at hunting deer then the standard 150lb, I think it is the Vixen will be fine. The faster the arrows and the more powerful the bow the better the trajectory at longer ranges but if you are good at range estimation and stay within bow hunting ranges 150 will be more than enough. Good luck, I finally got my deer with the bow this year, only a little one but had to break the ice with something, the practise was worth it, 5 years of summers and a big block of styrofoam.
