I’ve always had an interest in cavalry equipment and recently came into possession of a couple interesting bits…actually a German ww2 cavalry saddle and a Canadian marked horse bit dated 1907. I’ve googled the subject but haven’t found any references of any depth when it comes to the full kit. Are there any books in print that cover German (ww2) and Canadian pre ww1 cavalry equipment?
Or any internet links to good info?

I remember seeing a couple of small books on German cavalry gear. There is precious little on British or Commonwealth. The Osprey Men-at-Arms No.138 is one of the few. Searching on 1902UP saddle will get you some links and start you down the rabbit hole. Over the years I've managed to put together a complete 1917 trooper's set, saddle, bridle, and all the other bits and bobs including a lance. A lot of the stuff stayed pretty much the same from the late 1890s until the end in 1937. There were minor changes to the saddle, the rifle bucket and the bits, but all recognizable as the same basic design.
