Any difference between the different brand CLP’s?

I've noticed people mentioning different brands of CLP on here. I'm currently using the Safari brand CLP as both a cleaner and a lubricant.

Any difference in these brands or just personal preferance?

Thanks for your time.

I'm not 100 % on ALL brands but the two or three I looked at all had the Mil-spec standard # on the label so essentially they are the same in that they meet or exceed the requiremets set by that particular standard. That's about all I can tell you about it.

Regards,

Yes, there is a huge difference. Some clean better, some lube better and some protect better. My favorite for black rifles and hand guns is break free. Find what you like.

I believe break free is now a part of Safariland. So I think we're using the same product. I agree, it's pretty good!

I quickly switched from CLP to G96 after the first use. There's no going back.

That being said I do use it as more of a conditioner than an all out oil. I tend to favour rem oil on the rails, bolts and high wear areas, after the G96 has soaked in. I've used FP10 as well for this and the combo seems to work well.

Also unlike CLP it doesn't smell like a really crappy BBQ. I really don't like the smell of CLP.

I use wipeout for the bore and Hoppes Benchrest first if it's really bad.

If you season the metal with G96 cleaning of the slides, bolts etc only requires wiping it with a patch. No scrubbing. No need to use Hoppes or other cleaners to remove the carbon. Cleaning time was cut in half. I've used this stuff on my Duty pistol in -50 and it still racked smooth without issue. Everything worked. CLP and G96 are both RCMP approved.
