Any Edmonton Area Casters Need A Source Of Tin?

I have recently stumbled onto a supply of surplus solder, 60Sn-40Pb. It's rosin core which is probably not ideal, but I figure if people out there are stuck buying lead free plumbers solder as their only source of tin, this might be a big savings. Is there any demand, or do most people have a reliable source of tin?

It's at a distributors warehouse that my employer deals with. They deal wholesale only, so I would have to have my company buy it and sell it to me (at cost).

If we bought case lots only (multiples of 50lbs), it should come out at $4 /lb.

The rosin will just act as a flux. I got several pounds when the company I used to work for closed its doors.

I have commitments to justify picking up one case of 50lbs, this does not include anybody who suggested they would take "some". Anybody with further interest please send me a PM stating how much you would like to take, I'll see if we can justify additional cases.

I intend to write up the purchase order for this solder tomorrow, so as of now I consider the offer essentially closed. I am going to order 300 lbs, this will cover everything everybody indicated to me that they wanted and leave a little bit extra for last minute joiners or those who decide they want a little more than they ordered.

The solder should be in my garage by Friday evening. This is where the buyers can come to pick up; I live in the neighbourhood of Ritchie, think Whyte Avenue and Mill Creek Ravine area.

I can collect funds by cash or EMT. I spoke with the distributor who has this today and he confirmed he still has it. Price is still expected to come in at $4/lb.

Sorry guys, there is a hitch in the process. We were short staffed at work today and the order did not get picked up from the distributor. I'm afraid it will be Tuesday now before we will get it in.

There are 25lbs on this order not yet spoken for. And the distributor still has 100lbs left, though it sounds like somebody else took 100lbs last week.
