I am looking into purchasing or building a tactical shotgun, and am looking at a Fabarm. The problem here is that I really don't know that much about them in terms of reliability/durability/accessories/etc...

If anyone out there has any experiences with these shotguns, please respond and add your insight to my situation. I want something that is definately a step or three up from an 870 express. Something very tough and solid.

The Fabarm pump guns are loosely based on the 870. They are expensive, but for the price you get a VERY high quality piece of kit.

I would definitely say that fit & finish of the Fabarm pumps are at least 3 steps up from the 870 Express guns (and maybe even a step better than the 870 Police and Wingmaster).

yes, the fit and finish on my fabarm is very high..even on par with my Benelli which costs 3x as much...the fabarm also has some cool features (pistol grip, ghost ring sights, picatinny rails, huge break action button etc.)

the fabarm is VERY light so you will feel the recoil much more than with an 870...also, I am not convinced that the spring assisted pump mechanism is as reliable as an 870 (although it does feel cool).

the fabarm is ok but if I had to do it all over again I'd probably get a tricked out 870

RL1, I just remove the springs most of the time. Some folks think its cool, but I find it just makes the action less smooth.
As far as accessories go, there are not alot. No side saddles, or stock adaptors, so this limits options.
One big advantage though, is the threaded muzzle. This allows you to use the external choke tubes or muzzle brake. These are not expensive and are a custom feature that would cost quite a bit more to get on a Rem 870 shortie.

Ditto on removing the spring assist, then you're back to just dropping a shell into the open action like an 870.

For my uses, the cheap stock shell holders are good enough, and I prefer the rail-mounted tac light to the dedicated fore end of the 870 type.

RL1 I still say you would like your Fab better if you get the regular stock for it!
