Any good books re: optics?

Hey guys. My PAL is in the mail, I'm preparing to buy my first non-restricted and the only thing I'm not 100% about is "glass". Anyone know of a good book that will start me off on the right path of choosing the correct glass? I've done some searching but anything I come up with is about hunting optics. I don't intend on doing any hunting, just target shooting.

Optics reads

First off, good job on getting your PAL, the more people in the the sport the better off we all are as a whole

I can't think of any good books on optics right off hand, and most magazine articles are geared toward hunting as you say.

Not to sure what you plan for target shooting but if it is benchrest or similair precision shooting check out http://www.6mmbr.com/optics.html

I have recently gotten the accuracy bug (my Savage 12 in .204 that shoots consistent 5/8" groups) and I have learned a lot from the 6mmbr site.

Another site is http://www.opticstalk.com/ as with any forum all info must be taken with a grain of salt. I rarely post but learn lots just reading others posts and doing searches.

Just keep looking on the internet, there will be a site that will cater to just what you need.

A lot depends on what range you will be shooting at. There is a lot of difference between what is best for 100 or 200 yards, or for over 500 yards.

Ask the other shooters at your range or club what they use. You can probably get a lot of good advice that way.
