Seen a few online, but alot of them are expensive and won't pass the border as they are gun parts over 99USD. SO with that being said, anyone have a good source for GI parts? like bolts, barrels, stocks? thats in canada?

Thank you

many hundreds before you have pondered this same question :D
the answer ... sadly... is NO.
there are some shops... ie.. wolverine...... that will probably be able to get you new aftermarket barrels... oprod sprins and guides.... gas lock sights and scope mounts..... but ... sadly.... there is no retail outlet existing in canada that carries inventory of usgi parts. Marstar is the only company i know of that has a couple replacement parts... ie... gas lock sights... match stainless oprod spring guide ect.
if you have friends in the U.S. that you can have buy parts for you.... stock pile them down south till you have what you need, then use the services of a liscenced importer such as Questar to bring the whole lot in legally.
One of my friends up in canada, had his cousin in houston Texas buy a mint TRW usgi "real" m14 at a gun show in Texas. which was then stripped down and the receiver and full auto bits tossed aside. My buddy paid the questar fee and had ALL the parts for his norinco/trw build in one shot.

Well after alot of searching I have found quite a few places that offer usgi parts for the m14 all in the states. Question is, are they real? I'll have to post on another forum to find out, but I suppose the only way around this is what 45acpking mentioned, buy a ####load of parts and have them all shipped to questar in the states.
It can be done, not to much work, just alot more money than one would probably want to spend. For anyone looking to build a true M14, you will defenitly be able to do it, at about the same price if not more than a springfield.

If my norc serves me well and I fall in love with it, I'd consider it :D

Here's the Hungry Welfare way around this need for USGI parts !!

Buy TWO of the M14's from Marstar. There ya go... spare parts. No joking !

Authentic USGI M14 parts can NOT be shipped out of the U.S. without U.S. Export permits regardless of their value.

This change was implemented roughly 2 years ago.

The best source for M14 parts we had was "girlsgunsandfastbikes" (GG&FB) here on CGN.............but since he now resides in Hawaii, he is not around here much and exporting the parts from the U.S .is the problem.

If you find USGI M14 Parts in Canada, JUMP ON THEM!!!!!

SKBY.

Tossed aside? Toss it my way. All the other parts are accessable, Real USGI receivers are rare.

a "real" usgi receiver and full auto bits..... require prohibited class 12.3 liscence to own.... and who knows how a guy without 12.3 could go about import it to canada from texas.
I use the term "tossed aside" rather loosely..... and translation is..... I left them for my cousin to as he wished with them as where he is from..... you don't need anything like a canadian prohib class 12.3 liscence to own.... or go shoot... your usgi m14.
my cousins a lucky dawg..... his m14 does this :50cal:

"...a mint TRW usgi "real" m14..." That'd be an MG as far as the ATF is concerned. Semi'd or not. Requires the Class 3 transfer tax and registration as an MG in the U.S. No MG's in Texas unless it's Federally registered.
A fully operational M14 is worth a ton of money, Stateside.

the price tag my buddy paid for his parts was 1250, U.S. for the complete rifle, plus the questar fee.
I was the "assistant dismantler" , on a visit to gary's place in houston..... i can't speak much about what is legal and what is not down south.... but gary's personal m14 rocks and rolls. He is a liscenced smith down south but doesn't advertise, it's his hobby and he helps out his buds. The guy owns many nice toys that would make us all weep with envy. One of the most impressive collections of vietnam era firearms and militaria that i've ever seen. He is also a close to retirement texas state trooper so i doubt anything illegal was going on.
I'll be taking a road trip this spring, through Nevada, South Dakota and will end up in houston before coming home. All related to sourcing usgi stocks and parts.... keep your pinkies crossed... if i hit the jackpot..... I'll let my spares go here in the ee first. ;)

I'm hoping to get my hands on some real deal USGI parts in the new year. Got a buddy who's from the Phillipines and he has a couple of M14's kicking around. Says that they're dirt cheap over there so he's willing to strip one for parts for me.

What about all the M14 in Isreali army as I am sure they have replaced those with more modern weapons might be worth looking through the WWW to see if there are parts out there Just a thought

Buyer Beware

Beware of counterfeit parts with authentic looking USGI markings and USGI parts that were cut and re welded.
These items are showing up here in the states. Run away from anything sold by a company called Red Cloud.

H2O man . I see that the vendor finally came to light !
I have seen his ads in Shotgun news for op rods and have heard a couple years ago that he was wishy washy . I am glad that I have not ordered from him before . I have used most of the other vendors with success.
