Start your own informal gun club, and don't mention firearms. Something like "West Alberta Recreation Association". No CFO, no problems...no dumb expenditures, no dumb rules. It could turn into "the wild west" eventually, but hey....the conditions will have been created by the CFO's themselves.
One of the worst things that happen to government regulators is when people ignore them en masse. Ultimately, there will be no purpose for them (regulators) because their subjects operate outside of their jurisdiction (Private or public land).
So, how does your poker rally fit in as an organized event and all?Problem with this is that as soon as it's an organized event the CFO can step in and declare the area a range and your bound by all the guidelines of the template and range booklet !
I also agree that the CFO needs to be pushed to the back of the line till he gets his #### together and falls in line !!
Just noticed new rules posted on the CHAS website. Looks like they were possibly just posted today.
They have amended the rules and now shooting is only allowed from the firing pads. No shooting allowed in front of those pads unless you have a written exemption from the CHAS executive. Also, prone is no longer allowed unless a range safety officer is present....
... time to get some NR and go find a gravel pit i guess? I understand a lot of these changes are probably due to liability and CFO... but damn. You can't shoot that gun here, only at an approved range. But not from there, only from that concrete pad.... Oh, and don't lay down that's not allowed. FFS.
