Howdy folks!

Last I heard there were a few guys here in PG looking to start up CAS, there was even training nights set aside at the range for that purpose, but I haven't heard or seen anything about it since. Is this dead in the water, or is there still some interest?

Yes, there are people wanting to shoot cowboy in PG. We do have a cowboy section. What we don't have is somebody with the time and or energy to be the director, who will organize practices and matches. The few of us who already have enough on our plates do not have the time.

A lack of volunteers or help is the norm all over. It is an evident truth that 10% of the people do 90% of the work.
However you might find that if you get something going it will create enough interest that some members will step up and contribute, I have found that if shooters realize that without their help there will be no event, most of them are more than willing to help out.

Tudenom, here's your chance to step up and help out. If you want it bad enough jump in. Typically there isn't THAT much work involved but someone has to do it.

I'm definately willing to help, but becoming a director for the PG R&G club wasn't what I had in mind! Isn't there a bunch of other stuff that comes along with being a director?

What? No ritual sacrifices at moonlight cerimonies? Well that just sucks the fun out of everything.

LOL

Let me do some thinking on that, I'm not sure if I'm director material as I tend to be a pushover.

John believe me Cowboy Action Shooting is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I have shot trap, 3 gun, and IPSC I love gun games, but CAS is my favorite. It is about 50% shooting and 50% social. The top shooters in CAS will lend you gear and volunteer advice way more than any other discipline that I have been involved in. Since I started shooting CAS, I have made lifelong friends from Ontario to Arizona.

I would like to add CAS to my shooting repertoire but Kitimat is a long drive from just about anywhere. If Prince gets something happening that would be 2 clubs within a one day drive and I would be willing to try it:)

directors meeting for pg rod and gun is on monday 3rd. come to the hartmann clubhouse if you are interested in what goes on. We also have a facebook page, just search pg rod and gun.

Fortuantely for the SO's the coal burners left their stockers at home today and settled on more gentile .38spl smokeless powder propelled pills. John ya just gotta pull away from the perfumed pillows in two weeks and join the frozen penquin crowd. It was only mildly numbing this morning. Jason made it up. I would type more but I can't feel my fingers.....;)

Take Care

We did get out the coal after youse guys left ;) I ran a record breaking 35 rounds of BP loads through that thing (bunch of folks wanted to try it) before it finally fouled up enough to need a cleaning. Either that's the cold weather or the pure beeswax/olive oil, I dunno. Barrel wiped clean with only two swipes.

Hit the steel every time, probably because the wind was blowing so galdang hard the smoke was not an issue.

You shoulda come out John

That's promising to hear that some folks from out west would be interested in coming all the way inland to go to a cowboy shoot or two. It's too bad I haven't been able to get out to Richards service rifle shoot in Terrace in the last couple of years, I miss it.

Okay folks, I went to the PGR&G meeting last night and stepped up to the plate for Cowboy Action Shooting. I'll be collecting info and reading rule books this winter and getting some kind of rough plan together.

I'll probably start up a news letter for members and anyone who's interested.

If you've been involved with starting up a posse and are kind enough to pass on a few words of wisdom it would be greatly appreciated!

That is good to hear CAS is going to start up in PG! I know for a fact that there will be buy in from shooters in Quesnel... Last year we put on a "Getting started in CAS day" at the Quesnel club and I believe we had 3 shooters from PG in attendance..

Unfortunately we have concluded our CAS shooting until spring... The best way for you to learn about match set up and stage design would be to come down to Quesnel for a day once we are up and active again in the spring as you would be more than welcome...

Tudenom, if memory serves me correct you and your girlfriend attended one of our monthly shoots a few years back...
