The No. 8 rifles that turn up here are invariably marked N/l\Z. Seem to sell for $500 up.
The sight is a replacement, not the original issue. By itself, these sell for $150 up.
The set should be a dandy shooter.

Is it a 5c(#4) or 5d(#8) sight?
I suspect its a PH5C as the hole for the forward/upper mounting screw on the charger bridge is not filled.

Is that a No.8, a Brit No.7 or a No.9 in .22?
No8. Note the previously mentioned mounting hole only found on the No8. The barrel of the Brit. N9 also doesn’t protrude into the action but rather is almost identical to a CNo7.

As to value...Is it matching? Got more pics?

PH5C is the sight, and it's a New Zealand marked No. 8 Mk I. What I've read is there were 20,000 of the 'usual' No 8, and only 2,000 of the NZ rifles. Yes, entirely matching and original, except for the rear sight. Many young hands handled it and it shows, but the bore is bright.

These are old pictures. I've since cleaned the metal of dust, dried oil, grease, etc. and wiped down the stock.
