I'm in the market for a scope for a 17HMR. Obviously, Leupold is at the top of my list. Recently came across some Nikon scopes, 3-9x40 and 4.5-14x40. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with them, warrantee work, etc. :canadaFlag:

Always a good place to start is with the maker's website...

Never have owned one, but have heard mostly good things about them.

Order of ascending quality/features is: Prostaff, Buckmaster, and then various grades of Monarchs.

I sincerely doubt you can go wrong with a Monarch series scope.

I get a sense that the earlier pre-Monarch Japanese made Nikons are quite highly regarded as well.

I have experience with only one Nikon and that is a 2 - 7 x 32 Monarch but I'm delighted with it - bright image, repeatable adjustments, unnoticeable shift of POI with power change, good eye relief and a very competitive price. I can't speak for the warranty as I haven't had any issues with it after four years of use. I would not hesitate to buy another. Hope this helps.
