I see no pic.? Is it a single shot or double barrel? Also need the serial number to try and determine age as certain years used numbers, some letters and numbers and some just letters.
I assume the receiver is marked Champion on the side? From the pic it looks like a small frame Iver Johnson Champion model 36. Does it say 36 on it anywhere? The model 36 was the small frame model from 1909 to 1922. Before 1920 most had model 36 marked on them. From about 1920-22 they had no model 36 marking. There was also the Champion model 39 which is the large frame model which came out I believe 1917. If there is a patent date on it, it may also help dating it. This info I listed was provided by the late Bill Goforth with whom I corrosponded with a couple of times regarding serial numbers. Also curious. Is your gun marked "made in Canada"?
I just got a 12 ga of thise shotgun, the info I dug up on mine is that if the serial number is all 5 numbers with no letters then it was built between 1909 and 1919. But thats my 12Ga
