Any info on this wildcat?

To answer your question-------NO! But I can't see why it would differ much from the .35 Whelan. In fact my Hodgdon reloading manual list the .30-284 and the .30/06 together, under the same load data.

Do you have a line on one or are you building ??

Drop a PM to Lazerus2000. When I was in the shop he used sometime in the late 1980's. He had some some .35-.284s loaded-up on the bench. I don't know if they were his.
 
I have one. A 6.5 lb. Ruger 77 short action with a 20" barrel. It is unpleasant to shoot off the bench but a nice carry and shoot rifle. I have used 125gr. pistol bullets up th 250 gr, Northforks. I used 35 Whelan data to start working up loads. My 11 yr. old grandson shot gophers this past summer with 125 gr. hornady's and blue dot powder. I like the cartridge,but am not a big fan of ruger triggers. Mark

The case capacity of the 350 is slightly more than 35 Whelan, or 35-.284.

The advantage the 350 and the 35-284 have over the Whelan is that they both work in short action rifles because they are 2.17 inchs.

The only other difference is the belt and I would have to assume that would give the edge in accuracy to the 35-284.

I already have a 350 Rem Mag, a 35 Whelen, a 35 Rem, & 3 - 358 Winchesters.:cool:

I was toying with the idea of a 35 caliber wildcat and thought that would be a neat gun to have in a short action......

There's an old 35cal wildcat I've read about called the 350 G&H. Basically a 375H&H necked down to 35cal with not other changes.

I think that one would be a good conversion. Easy brass, lots of bullets and still different enough to have some cool factor. :)

If I were to build one you should do it off the 404 Jeffrey's case.

This is same case as 300 WSM, Dakota, and Remington UltraMags are based off of.

It has probably allready been done and Pacnor has a 35-300 WSM reamer so PGW Steve would most likely have one too.

I would say that the 35-300 WSM be your best bet and wayyyy better performance than the 35-284.

You can also think of this as sort of the 'unimproved' version of the .358 STA
