Like the title says any interest in a railed dust cover to mount some optic on the sks like the kwikrail but mine will replace the dust cover and use the original dust cover pin , it will hold with the rear sight and the dust cover one , that will change the look radically here are some picture of what with can look like , unlike my prototype stock this one will probably very cheap to develop

Looks good and I like the idea. Integrating a new dust cover may let you set the rail lower than the Kwik rail and wartak offerings. If I could offer an aesthetic suggestion; I'd like to see the non-ejection side open similar to the Kwik rail/wartak. Making the sides of the dust cover like an original.

It won't work because when you disassemble a stock SKS the receiver cover goes back from the spring pressure and then the spring is released. In your setup if it is one piece it is attached at the front to the rear sight, it can pivot up but can't move back to release the main spring and reassembly of the Bolt, Bolt carrier and spring would be a nightmare if you could do it at all...

that at thing i forget to think but not a thing impossible to resolve

Interesting idea, In theory would be a better platform for optics than the kwik rail/wartrak rail.

The lower rail would be better for optics+cheek weld however you would need to make sure the shells ejected clearly.
Even with the height of the two rails on the market shells still hit the rails.

in that case you can still do the ejection port mods , will be good to check the hole location and other thing buyed an sks today at WSS

Keep working on it, I like the concept, try to keep the price reasonable, get her working and I am in for 2!
Improving on an Idea is what it's all about and hopefully the cgn guys here can offer constructive advice!

I also like your idea, if it's machined properly with very low tolerance, it could actually make a very solid mount. I would also suggest to machine as much material off as possible.

was cleaning my sks early and for the spring problem i dont think i will have any prob with that when you put the dust cover back it dont have so much pressure and when it inserted in the bolt carrier you can still move it up or down , i will just measure mine for the hole location and shape and for be able to remove the spring when assembled i added a little slot in the back of the cover so in theories you should be able to slide it ,

Yeah that would work better for insertion of the mainspring and bolt assembly as you have removed the tabs at the front of the receiver cover. This is interesting...

I probably have an update soon with that , what supposed to have one a couple week ago but it seem that it have been lost in the shipping , damn Canada Post !

here one pic from the shop were they made it using 3dprinter
