I would like to buy the rifle but I and others are probably hesitant due to the fact we will probably get cases bouncing off our chin. Are there any righties willing to sacrifice for the lefties and give us a report...?:p It would be greatly appreciated and if it winds up being positive - I am sure the dealers will thank you too.
Regards ,

I would not put my face anywhere near that ejection port!!!!

the brass comes out at mach 3 and lands over 20m away

I remember seeing a brass catcher for qbz95 but know it only from china i don't think it possible to get them in. Maybe someone might produce a brass defector in the future for lefty like us.

I have a friend whos a lefty and tried my Tavor... he got brass in the face. No cuts, but it hit him pretty hard. The T97 has a chin rest even closer to teh ejection port so id think youd be even more likely to get hit with the brass.

Just do what the chinese do, simply DONT BE a lefty. Lol... A new chinese proverb says "you fit gun... gun not fit you!"

OK,
Thanks for the replies, i just got back from the range and luckily enough two guys brought up their new T97's.
They were happy to have me try it out (I supplied the ammo)- and it does work so long as you stay back from the ejection port.
Maybe a bit uncomfortable at first but one can get used to it but don't dare slide your face forward (took one on the lip...).
Also, the gases are not bothersome either because of the piston drive.
The Kel Tec Sub 2000 is really bad for this being a blowback action and its position of the ejection port however my Thureon Defence has no issues and that I would recommend to lefties.
All in all I would say your mileage may very but it is possible.
Now, a problem has arisen with the aftermarket picatinny rails being to "bouncy" - it seems that no matter how hard you tighten them down they still move elevation wise.
May have to get Dlask to have a look if I buy a rail....?
Happy shooting.

Yeah... Just tried it and didn't pay much mind to how far forward my face was to the ejection port. Let's just say my T97 took a bit of blood tonight.

Lefty shooting T97 right hand :)

Dont bother to figure out how far back you need to put your face, one day you will foget and get a nasty surprise.

Learn to shoot right hand unless you enjoy being hit with hot brass.

Just come from the range here is the result. Note that I wear my ski mask when doing the test.

When I got home my lip look like this.

Please ignore my bad shaving. Look at my upper lip with the red spot.

So unless you want to move your head a little back, don't shoot it with your left hand.

I had mine at the range today, ran wicked & had 10 shot grapefruit size groups at 100. VERY PLEASED with my T97!

And, as I was leaving a guy said he wanted to try it left handed... I warned him... And he did NOT creep the stock & fired the gun left handed NO problem!

YMMV...

Cheers
Jay

Well, not all the rounds hit me. Out of ten rounds maybe around 3 rounds. Also, I do not lean back when I shoot. I just shoot as if it is my left hand tavor.

You could shoot left handed but with your right shoulder and eye. I have tried it for tactical shooting and it works well.

I'm thinking a brass deflector and/or shell catcher would certainly make it lefty friendly.
A magazine release similar to an AR ambi release would make the rifle 200% better.
