Nokomis Range
Yes there is long range shooting ranges in Sask. There are at least four long ranges in the province. Camp Dundurn, Burdick near Moose Jaw, Northstar in Nokomis, and I'm told a rather rough and rugged one in Prince Albert.
I was President of the SPRA when we bought the land for Northstar. Four quarters with three in a North South line and one over to the right of the butts. There is a hill conveniently at the one mile point from the grid. The soil is a coarse gritty gravel that is poor for commercial purposes, and not much good for grain farming either. The club bought more land after I left the province so they own more of the danger area, and rent it for grain and grazing. There were firing points at 300,500,600,800,900,1000,1100 and 1200 yds and maybe one at a mile (off the road allowance?).
The club built firing points and a pretty good set of butts. The frames are cantilever style, not the chain and carrier style (there is a real name for them, but I forget) found on military ranges.
Go to the SPRA website and look at the schedule. Every centrefire rifle in your cabinet is appropriate in F class. So, don't get all stressed about not having a $3000 target rifle. A varmint rifle with known zeros is really all you need.
