any luck removing sks bayonet?

I was looking to remove the bayonet without cutting anything on my rifle but the bolt going through the lug seems to be punched by the thread. Anyone have ideas for this other than a hacksaw?

3/8 th inch air wrench and a high grade proper sized bit and have at her.
Or if you don't have air, try one of those impack drivers. the imortant
part is the proper screw driver end.

Adding a bipod? Only reason I can think of - the built in bayo is what makes an SKS an SKS.

Mine was punched but wasn't a problem to unscrew. Try unscrewing it. It may come off easily.

My Norinco shoots better with the bayonet on.

I cut my old bolt off and just used a new one for the bipod.

No need to use air, I removed mine with the proper size drill bit and a battery powered drill. Just work the screw back and forth and it will come out.

Just be careful, because the bayo IS spring-loaded and the spring WILL fly off the gun if you're not ready.

x2 - don't ask me how I know. But wearing eye protection may not be a bad idea either.

Mine had the punch mark aswell and was no problem to unscrew using just a large screwdriver. YMMV

I had to use a wrachet with a really long extender and a adaptor with a flat head to take mine of. Oh ya I dropped some kroil and worked it in before it came off.

Removal

My SKS's are punched, thought of removing the bayonet. Tried some "Snap On" screwdrivers and a high quality gun screwdriver kit. They were about to start burring the screw. Very hard to remove and was about to try an impact driver till I asked myself "why exactly am I doing this" I had no real good reason, so the bayonet is staying on them rather than damaging the screw...

I found that out the hard way. Fortunately for me, the spring flew across the room.
