Well I still can't get my Nork M14 to cycle at all. The place I bought it, Epps, is backlogged for 8-9 weeks with gunsmithing. Is there anyone in or around North Bay that can help me with my M14? Its getting very frustrating now. Compensation for help in form of beer available.

does the action kick the bolt back at all ? when firing

-is it indexed properly ..if it is out of time... the gas cylinder may not be getting the gas from the barrel to push the piston back ? .... their is a .075/ .110" dia gas cylinder alignment gauge to test the alignment

- have you done a piston seal test... seal the holes on the gas cylinder with your fingers and push the piston up ... the piston should slowly drop ( if its really looosy gooosy ... you may not have enough poop to cycle the action )

- also makesure the gas cylinder cut off valve is open ... or no gas will flow

theres lots it could be ... have you had it apart for cleaning ?

I'm guessing it may be out of alignment. The action does not budge at all when fired. I had it apart a few weeks ago after firing about 20 or so Norinco .308's and the gas system looked a little too clean for that. Its not the gas cut of valve, because Ive fired the rifle with the screw in all possible positions and nothing works.

easy to check... take the piston out of your gun... re-install the gas cylinder on the gun .. and there is a small hole on the bottom of the gas cylinder... you should be able to fit a .075 " pin up through the gas cylinder and if you look into the gun barrel ...you should see the pin in the barrel bore its self ! ( of course make sure your firearm is safe before doing that.. )

it maybe that your gun is a little out of time and that may be cutting off the gas from the barrel... if you need a diagram... just pm me your email and i will scan some diagrams and send it

Here you go just in case you were wondering

Pretty quicj way to check without taking it apart, and excuse the beat up rifle, its in the middle of a makeover.

Good luck.

Well, get back to us and let us know if that spindle valve is helping or non-funtioning.

Next step is to grease all the bolt lugs, bolt raceways, op rod tracks and then tighten down your gas plug . .... Then see if it works.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,
Barney
