any M14S with out of index barrels?

I got your pm's about your index issues.
Also about the gas lock. Indexing has no effect on the gas lock. If your gas lock is tightening at 5 and turns "tool tight" to 6 , that's perfect, as long as the gas plug threads in cleanly.
I can't answer all the questions I get and in this situation I usually refer guys to the "stickies" at the top of the forum. Most of the questions are answered and the how do I deal with that's answered. Skullboy, Lazerus2000 and Hungry as well as a few others have taken a buttload of their free time to post the info in the stickies.
I think many guys just cruise past the stickied threads, not realizing the gold mine of info on these rifles that is posted for all to use.

Before the site crashed several years ago, there were detailed pics of how to check and correct indexing. IIRC, it requires a barrel vise, a piece of equipment that most of us don't have handy, but otherwise should not be too difficult (I saw several people correct theirs at one of Hungry's clinics).
