Any new thoughts on the V3 Field Sport?

They are pretty decent shotguns for the money. The gas system is based on the Benelli M4 design and the Versamaxes and V3 I have shot never seem to skip a beat. Like anything though make sure you give it a good thorough cleaning before shooting it.

I’d love to try one out. I’ve been shooting a versamax for a couple years, the gas system is awesomely simple. It’s cycled everything from 3/4oz clay target handloads to 1&3/8oz waterfowl loads.

I like how the V3 action spring is in the reciever vs the stock like the versamax.

If you wind up getting one we would love to hear about it.

When I have some more cash I am strongly looking at one of these for a new duck/goose gun, in all my research I didn't find anything glaringly bad about it. Nobody stocks them around here however, I would like to see how the stock fits me before buying one.

At the risk of sounding like a smart a$$. I’d be willing to wager that the stock will fit you like a Remington. Whatever their stock dimensions are they seem to use them on all their shotguns. I own 870 wingmasters, expresses a versamax and have shot an 1100 as well. For me they’re interchangeable and seem to fit and shoot the same.

I recently bought a 28" black synthetic from Clay at PR and am very happy with it. It offers terrific value at its price point and is ridiculously soft shooting. Leveractionjunkie is correct-it fits like an 870. Be aware they do not come with shims but I feel they are not needed with it. Also the synthetic forearm is nice and slim. I handled a walnut model at my local CanTire and the forearm was noticeably thicker. Overall the synthetic feels better balanced but the walnut is nicer looking. Good trigger and mag cutoff. Great warranty. I haven't put enough through it to comment on long term reliability but it has functioned without a hiccup through several different loads.

They fit very similar to an 870, but not perfect. I can shoulder my 870 to where I need it very easily. With my V3 I think I’m pointing a little high and right. A stock shim kit would fix this but this rumored part is very much a unicorn, talked about but never a reality.
I was experiencing some blowback in to my face with mine. It’s not the best solution but I used a bit of hockey tape between the forearm and barrel, and also covered the forearm vents.

Where I go out I could be shooting ducks, geese, pheasant, or whatever else in the same trip. The versatility of the V3 has been great, the feel is great. It’s light shooting recol, even with Hog Hunter 3” rounds makes it easy to shoot. Easy to strip down and clean.

All semi’s and pumps should come with shims and spacers. The next time you find yourself in a group, take a moment to check how different in body type people are. Only Remington would release a new shotgun without stock adjustments. Welcome to the 80’s Remington.

That said, the gun itself looks good. I would buy the wood version and go to work on the stock.

Late to the party, but...

I have had the wood version for a couple of years now, and I will say I like it. I have the "shorter" 26" barrel and have no problem lining up shots. Primary use is deer and have no problems with weight etc carrying it to the stand.
