CDTSA 3 Gun Invitation and Details
Calgary & District Target Shooters Association is putting on a 3 gun match starting at 10:00 am on Sunday, 8 September, 2013. The match will consist of four action shooting stages and an optional "precision rifle" competition as a fifth stage.
- the match is open to all CDTSA members and guests
- guests are required to pay a $10 fee to cover insurance costs
- the match will involve using handgun, rifle and shotgun in each stage, to engage steel and/or paper targets from cover positions with movement during and between the use of each firearm
- competitors may need up to 100 rounds handgun, 100 rounds rifle me 50 rounds shotgun ammo to complete the course of fire
- ammo requirements/restrictions include:
- pistol ammo must be center fire in a calibre of 9mm to .45" and have either lead or plated lead bullets only; jacketed bullets and not allowed
- shotgun ammo must be center fire and contain lead shot only of a #6 shot size or smaller (ie #6, #7, #8, #9). Steel or other alloy shot is not allowed.
- rifle ammo must be in a center fire calibre. Lead, plated or jacketed bullets are allowed.
- there will be two competition categories, "modern" and "vintage"
- modern category includes any firearms from ww2 to present day (ie) 1939 to now) including any semi-auto rifle or shotgun and any semi auto pistol or double action revolver. Optical sights are allowed.
- vintage category includes any center fired handguns available from after the end of the US Civil War to before the start of WW2 (ie 1866 to 1938). Bolt, lever and pump action long arms are allowed. Only iron sights are allowed. Semi auto rifles or semi auto shotguns are not allowed.
- competitors will declare which category they choose at sign up time.
- the match will be revolver neutral. All handguns will be loaded to a maximum of 6 rounds, with one or more mandatory mag/cylinder change in each stage.
- the match will be center fire rifle neutral. All rifle will be loaded with a maximum of 5 rounds with one or more mag changers or recharges in each stage.
- the match will be 5 round shotgun neutral. Over 5 rounds is not allowed. The will be one or more reloads per stage.
- competitors must be holster qualified in order to carry a holstered handgun. If not qualified competitors will start from a "weaver ready" position with time penalty added.
- competitors will be required to load and unload their firearms under supervision, as with cowboy action or ipsc style rules.
- for safety reasons there will be no movement with a "hot" firearm allowed. Firearms must be open and empty while moving between firing positions. All guns will be put down open and empty after firing is finished in each stage
- dropping an unloaded firearm will earn the competitor a stage disqualification. Dropping a loaded firearm or a negligent discharge will earn the competitor a match disqualification.
